Britemy Signature
Finance English Tutors Who Understand the Language of Numbers
Britemy Finance English tutors are adult-education specialists familiar with banking, asset management, and corporate finance contexts. We match you with a tutor who understands the rhythm of analysts and managers, so material examples feel relevant from the very first minute.
Finance English breaks down when practitioners memorise term lists without understanding how to link numbers to the business story. Britemy tutors coach you on translating numbers into a convincing narrative, the two competencies that most often decide whether clients or management buy your conclusion.
Map across four finance competencies
Every session is mapped to financial reporting, client presentation, internal communication, and regulatory correspondence. You know which areas are already strong and which need more attention each month.
Scenario bank per finance subsector
Roleplay scenarios are separated for investment bankers, wealth management RMs, treasury officers, big-four auditors, and corporate finance managers. For example: bankers practise M and A pitches, RMs practise portfolio reviews, auditors practise exit meetings.
Focus on the story behind the numbers
Beyond terminology, your tutor coaches the story behind the numbers: growth drivers, margin drivers, risk factors. This matters so you avoid simply reading slides and instead explain the implications for a client or management audience.
Concrete feedback on every recording
You record pitches or weekly updates, and your tutor gives specific notes on intonation, speaking tempo, and how you read charts. The notes are practical enough to apply directly to the next presentation, until your finance voice sounds more convincing.
- B1Read basic financial statements, follow bilingual meetings
- B2Write monthly commentary, pitch products to retail clients
- C1Lead earnings calls, negotiate term sheets, draft regulatory letters
CEFR, the Common European Framework, is the global scale for English level from A1 beginner to C2 mastery. Cross-country finance practitioners typically sit between B2 and C1.
Tutor Credentials
Britemy Tutor Standards for Finance Practitioner Classes
Britemy Finance English tutors are curated through a teaching interview, a financial reporting material check, and verification of a background teaching finance practitioners where available. We stay transparent about the tutor profile that will accompany you.
TESOL or CELTA
Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages and Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults, two international teaching credentials that raise the bar for adult classes.
Familiar with English for Finance and Banking
Tutors have studied the English for Finance and Banking approach, a branch of ESP that focuses on English for analysts, bankers, and finance managers.
Bank and corporate classroom portfolio
Some Britemy tutors have coached investment bank analysts, wealth management RMs, and MNC finance managers preparing for bilingual pitches or reporting, carrying that finance-class experience into your private sessions.
Reference to international reporting standards
Material draws on the IFRS standard for global financial reporting and general earnings call conventions common in international capital markets, without claiming affiliation with any particular bank.
Britemy does not administer professional tests such as CFA, FRM, or CPA. Our classes prepare the English communication that forms part of your practice; for technical exam strategy, please consult the relevant professional body.
Method
How Britemy Trains Your Finance English
Britemy's method for finance practitioners starts from four core competencies: reporting the numbers, presenting the numbers to clients, communicating internally across teams, and writing regulator correspondence. Your tutor helps you pick precise diction in every area.
A needs analysis of your role
In the first session your tutor maps your role, the financial products you handle, and the communication moments that feel most challenging, for example presenting a valuation to a client or explaining a budget variance to the CFO. Every piece of material after that grows from this map.
Financial terminology drill
You expand vocabulary for financial statements, ratio analysis, and capital market products across your field. Terminology is drilled in active sentences that link numbers to the business story, so the terms stick through the real context of the deck and model you work with every day.
Pitch and presentation coaching
You record a short pitch deck, and your tutor analyses intonation, argument order, and how you talk through financial charts. The next session revisits the weak sections until your pitch sounds calm, structured, and ready to bring to clients across borders.
Earnings call and Q and A drill
You practise delivering quarterly results and answering analyst questions from the buy-side and sell-side. Your tutor plays a probing analyst, so you get used to answering tough questions without losing sentence structure.
Regulatory and compliance writing
You draft regulator reports, compliance memos, or audit responses in precise English. Your tutor edits while explaining the language conventions of OJK, Bank Indonesia, and foreign regulators such as MAS Singapore or the US SEC, so your document stays consistent with the intended standard.
Reflection and light homework
Every session closes with three fresh terminology entries, one recurring mistake to tidy up, and a small task for the coming week. Tasks stay realistic for a finance schedule, for example writing one commentary on a budget variance or recording a three-minute pitch.

Student Reviews
Stories from Finance Practitioners Learning at Britemy
The 60-minute evening slot fits me since I often leave the office at ten. The Britemy tutor focused on a consumer staples pitch deck, and I felt more confident presenting the buy recommendation to a buy-side client in Singapore without reading the slides.
I brought portfolio review material from my own clients, and it became the roleplay content. After three months I felt calmer explaining performance attribution to expatriate clients without confusing jargon.
I needed to write the MD and A section for the annual report. My tutor edited my draft live while explaining tense choice and non-GAAP disclaimer diction. My final draft came out concise and ready for audit committee review.
Sample Materials
Finance English Material Samples
Britemy materials are designed for a 60-minute evening or weekend session. Below are excerpts that reflect the way our classes feel: short, contextual, and ready to use at the analyst desk or client meeting tomorrow morning.
Earnings Call Cheatsheet
Ready-to-use phrases for quarterly prepared remarks.
Portfolio Review Language
Phrases for wealth management RMs during client reviews.
Roleplay Scenario: Investment Pitch
Buy Recommendation for a Consumer Staple Name
You are an equity analyst at an investment bank in Jakarta. You are presenting a buy recommendation on a domestic consumer staples issuer to a buy-side client in Singapore. You need to explain the investment thesis, valuation, catalyst, and risk factors within ten minutes, then answer questions from a challenging portfolio manager.
- Which phrase fits an opening thesis with a strong hook
- How do you communicate valuation without getting caught up in jargon
- How do you answer a tough margin question without making a promise

Pronunciation Drill
English Sounds Indonesian Speakers Find Tricky
Eight sounds that most often cause miscommunication for Indonesian English speakers. Britemy sessions train articulation concretely with IPA and minimal pairs, not by chasing native accents.
Voiceless TH
Often swapped with /t/ or /s/
Tongue tip slightly out between upper and lower teeth, breathe out without vocal cord vibration.
Voiced TH
Often swapped with /d/ or /z/
Same tongue position as /θ/, but vibrate vocal cords. Sound is more vibratory and shorter.
V labiodental
Often pronounced /f/ or even /w/
Upper teeth touch inside of lower lip, vibrate vocal cords. Different from /f/ (no vibration), different from /w/ (rounded lips).
Schwa
The most common sound in English but often ignored
Mouth fully relaxed, tongue central, neutral short "uh" sound. Appears in unstressed syllables.
SH vs S
SH often pronounced as S in words like "she"
For /ʃ/: lips slightly rounded and pushed forward, tongue up to palate. For /s/: lips smiling, tongue near teeth.
Short I vs Long EE
Bit vs beat, ship vs sheep often sound the same
For /ɪ/: short, tongue mid-high, mouth less wide. For /iː/: long, tongue front high, mouth in a wide smile.
Short A open
Does not exist in Indonesian, often becomes /e/ or /a/
Open mouth wide as if yawning, tongue front low. Sound is long and "flat".
Ending -ed past tense
Often pronounced "walk-ed" should be "walkt"
After voiceless consonant (walk, kiss): /-t/. After voiced consonant (love, live): /-d/. After /t/ /d/ (want, need): /-ɪd/.
Britemy does not train you to mimic a native accent. What we train: sounds that cause miscommunication (thin becoming tin, ship becoming sheep). After 20-30 consistent sessions, these distinctions become natural.
Realistic Progress
What to Expect from Regular Britemy Classes
Finance English progress shows up as concrete change at the office, from feeling calmer delivering monthly commentary all the way to leading pitches to cross-country clients. Tempo varies for every practitioner, and we guide you up level by level from where you stand today.
Standard length per private session
Typical level range for cross-country practitioners
Recommended monthly rhythm
The hours needed to move up one CEFR level vary widely. A common Cambridge reference suggests around 200 hours to progress from B1 to B2, and up to 400 hours from B2 to C1. These figures describe general populations, offered as a rough map without binding your personal progress.

Native vs Local
Native or Local Tutor for Your Business English?
For multinational professionals, tutor choice depends on your role and interactions. Here is honest per-dimension comparison so you can choose with proper judgment.
Truly native accent. Fits if you often deal with US/UK/AU HQ.
Clean international accent. Overseas MBA alumni are equivalent.
Native if executive role daily communication with HQ. Local sufficient for managerial role with mixed expats.
Ex-corporate native understands vocab and business idiom naturally.
MNC/MBA alumni local tutor can break down vocab to Indonesian context with local case studies.
Native to polish natural idiom. Local for vocab applicable in your context.
Native understands Western meeting dynamics: turn-taking, disagreement etiquette, humor timing.
Local tutor can bridging: when to respect Indonesian colleague, when direct with expat.
Both fit. Choose based on your target audience: HQ vs mixed local team.
Native varies. Some understand Indonesian context well, some do not.
Local tutor understands Indonesian work culture and can bridge to Western norms.
Local for bridging role. Native for full immersion Western culture.
Native brings Western case studies that may be abstract for your context.
Local tutor brings Indonesian office case studies directly applicable.
Local more actionable for daily practice. Native for Western scenario exposure.
Fee 1.5-2x local. Timezone issue if native abroad.
Affordable fee, flexible evening/weekend sessions.
For 3-6 month intensive program, local more sustainable in ROI.
Britemy default recommends certified local tutor + MNC corporate experience for business English. After you're solid, periodic native sessions (say 2x per month) to polish accent and Western cultural context. For roles needing full-native exposure, request tutor rotation.
Britemy transparent: native tutor fee higher. We do not force you to use native if your goal can be achieved with local + periodic combination.

Process Promise
Britemy Service Promises for Finance Practitioners
We avoid promises of fluency within a fixed number of months, because tempo varies for every practitioner. What Britemy can guarantee is an honest, transparent learning process reviewed on a regular basis against your actual progress at the bank or corporate finance team.
Reassign your finance instructor without charge
If two or three sessions in the instructor still misreads your subsector or product mix, we bring in a different specialist and absorb the swap. Instructor fit sits inside Britemy's responsibility, not the analyst's.
Monthly progress report
Each month you receive a short summary: areas that are stronger, patterns of recurring mistakes, and recommended material for the next month. The summary can be shared with bank HR when the classes are sponsored by the office.
Closing-aware slot changes
Quarterly closings and deal launches can stretch long. Push a slot up to six hours before start; the credit stays intact and the session still sits inside your monthly finance package.
Confidentiality of your work material
Pitch deck drafts, valuation models, or earnings slides you bring into a session are treated as confidential. Britemy tutors and admin staff are bound to keep information about your work private, and we recommend redacting sensitive data before the session.
